Pokedex App: Case Study

Pokedex App was my final for app design and prototyping. This one turned out a lot better than the other. It is much easier to navigate and understand. I wanted the focus to be on the Pokémon caught. Since the first app, I was also able to make it more manageable and easier. You can easily tell what you are going to find on each page. Overall, this app is simple yet effective on letting the user know what Pokémon they have caught.
The objective of this project was to make an app I thought fictional characters would use. I decided to base mine on a Pokémon pokedex. My design process started by looking at other apps for inspiration. I wanted my app to function as a way for people to collect all the Pokémon they could. I decided to keep my background plain, so the elemental colors would stand out.
I started with my storyboards on how my pages’ layout would look, and how the pages would interact with each other.
Next, it was time to make the first few pages of my app to get a basic idea of what my app would look like. The feedback that I got was that people thought it looked great with the first few pages. People wanted to see how the app would turn up. My final draft got the same feedback as before, but people were saying that the pages looked confusing to navigate without seeing all the final changes.
The last version of the app was much better than the drafts. It was easy to tell what page you were on, and what you were looking for. It was user friendly too to help the user filter for what Pokémon they were missing, they had, by type, or name.
